Wilbur – Family Campervan Conversion

Wilbur is Wild River Campers’ own family campervan, built for us—the Lamberts—and the way we love to travel.

He was designed for family adventures filled with sandy feet, muddy boots, paddleboards, fishing gear, beach buckets, evenings around the fire and, of course, the dog.

We wanted a practical campervan that gave everyone room to travel, relax and enjoy life on the road. Every part of the layout was carefully planned around real family trips, with comfortable sleeping space, a welcoming living area and practical storage for everything we bring along.

Designed for Family Life on the Road

Wilbur’s kitchen has a two-burner hob, a large fridge and plenty of worktop space, making it easier to prepare proper family meals while travelling.

The dining area gives us somewhere to eat, play games and spend time together after a busy day outdoors. At night, the permanent fixed bed is ready to climb into, while the front seats and seating area create a second double bed.

Heating, a toilet and hot running water provide extra comfort throughout the year. The indoor and outdoor showers are particularly useful after muddy walks, sandy beach days, wild swims or adventures with the dog.

Skylights bring natural light into the campervan, while the ventilation fan helps keep the air moving on warmer days. Outside, the wind-out awning provides welcome shade and creates a comfortable place to sit and relax.

A Campervan That Has Grown with Us

Since we first built Wilbur, he has continued to change and grow alongside our family.

We have added Wi-Fi, hot running water and more practical storage in the boot as our adventures and needs have evolved. His solar power and battery system also allow us to spend longer away from electric hook-up, giving us more freedom to enjoy quieter places.

Owning, travelling in and continuing to improve our own campervan gives us valuable experience of what works in real life. It helps us create bespoke campervan conversions that don’t just look good—they’re designed around how people genuinely want to travel.
